Nicole Gerami, M.A. CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Nicole Gerami received her master's degree from Case Western Reserve University. From 1993 to 2004, Ms. Gerami served children in public schools, clinical settings, and private practice. She treats children with a wide range of delays and disorders but is best known for her work with children with autism spectrum disorders. Ms. Gerami is co-creator of the Program for Establishing and Enhancing Relationships through Social Skills (PEERSS™) and Friendship in Teams (FIT™) and is a founding member of Western Reserve Speech & Language Partners (WRSLP™). From 1995 to 1997, Ms. Gerami was a member of the adjunct faculty in the Department of Communication Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Ms. Gerami is fully licensed by both the Ohio Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the Ohio Department of Education, and she is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Ms. Gerami is a frequent lecturer for the Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Milestones, and the Cuyahoga County Special Education Service Center. She lectures on treating children on the autism spectrum and provides in-service training to teachers who offer social skills instruction to children and adolescents in the public schools.

Nancy Theofrastous, M.A. CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Nancy Theofrastous received her master's degree from Case Western Reserve University in 2000. Ms. Theofrastous is fully licensed by the Ohio Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She serves children with a wide range of delays and disorders. Her areas of specialty include autism spectrum disorders; speech and language delays in toddlers and preschoolers; severe apraxia; delays in written expression; and study skills. She has worked on-site with young adolescents who attend independent schools in the Cleveland area. From 2001 to 2006, she provided evaluation and therapy services at the Hershey Montessori Farm School in Huntsburg, Ohio. During the 15 years prior to joining the field of speech-language pathology, Ms. Theofrastous worked as a professional in publishing and educational measurement in New York City and Amherst, Massachusetts. She joined Nicole Gerami in private practice in 2000. Ms. Theofrastous and Ms. Gerami co-founded Western Reserve Speech & Language Partners (WRSLP™) in 2004.

Ms. Theofrastous has extensive experience in program design and professional development. In 2004, she and Ms. Gerami formally launched the Program for Establishing and Enhancing Relationships through Social Skills (PEERSS™). In 2007, Ms. Theofrastous, Ms. Gerami, and Erick Anderson, a certified adaptive PE teacher, created and launched Friendship in Teams (FIT™), an integration of social skills therapy and skills-based adaptive PE. From 2005 to the present, Ms. Theofrastous has collaborated with Lori Lundeen Smith, a music therapist at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, to develop and administer a co-treatment program. In 2007, they began to provide professional development in that practice area. In 2005 and 2006, Ms. Theofrastous taught language development in an adjunct position in the Department of Communication Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She frequently lectures in the northern Ohio region on early language development and social skills therapy.

Erick Anderson, FIT Director

Erick Anderson is the director of Adaptive Physical Education in the Shaker Heights City School District. He is a former professional football player who played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Washington Redskins. Erick was an All American and Butkus Award winner from the University of Michigan where he earned his Bachelor Degree in General Studies. Erick went on to earn his multi-age physical education license from Cleveland State University. Erick has worked in the field of special education in the Shaker Heights Schools since 2004 and has developed a passion for adaptive physical education. Erick's vision is to provide students with the skills they need in order to lead a physically active lifestyle in n their communities. Erick's skills-based approach to physical education coupled with his enthusiastic teaching style is a natural complement to the clinical services provided by our therapists.

Rita Gregg, M.S. CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Rita Gregg received her master's degree from Eastern Washington University in 1985. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Additionally, she is fully licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and the Ohio Department of Education. She has practiced in the public schools and in hospitals throughout the United States, including Virginia, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, Delaware, and Ohio. Ms. Gregg currently is on staff at a local private school. She joined Western Reserve Speech & Language Partners (WRSLP) in January 2007. She serves children with a wide variety of speech and language delays and disorders. Her areas of expertise include developmental speech delays, motor-speech disorders, and language delays in young children.
